Poem: Morning in Paradise
A moment of serenity on a bright summer morning is the inspiration for this week’s Poet’s Corner contribution by Tarla Kramer of Quorn.
Morning in Paradise
These are the mornings I love:
bright summer sun
cool southerly wind
and the kids have gone back to school.
I take my morning coffee
to the palm leaf shelter,
promising to do it more often.
Every day, ideally.
The only sounds the caw of the crow,
the wind in the trees,
and a bit of loose iron rattling nearby.
And the light, oh the light, on the hills.
You might like
But it’s too bright for my laptop,
wind blows my paper about
and when it drops,
out come the flies.
The next day I’m busy
then it’s too hot or too cold.
Another year is gone
before I do it again.
