Sydney House, a heritage-listed dwelling in the heart of New Farm, was named House of the Year. The landmark was recently transformed into a family home, with Cavill Architects praised by the judges for its ability to deliver a design that meshed with the building’s existing heritage fabric, praising the project as a “skilfully crafted and highly considered” example of residential architecture.
St Aidan’s Anglican Girls School Sports Performance Centre was awarded Regional Project of the Year, with Blight Rayner Architecture commended for its use of affordable materials, creative detailing and ability to address key challenges, such as flood mitigation, landscape integration and futureproofing.
37 additional Greater Brisbane projects earned regional commendations across a number of award categories. Head to the Australian Institute of Architects website for the full list of awarded, commended and shortlisted projects.
