Embark on an acrobatic adventure in Wonderland with Cirque Alice. From the creators of global smash hits such as The Illusionists, Circus 1903 and Le Noir!, this exciting new show reimagines Lewis Carroll’s classic tale with breathtaking twists and astonishing, gravity-defying feats. From April 10–22 catch white rabbits, red queens and mad hatters make their world premiere at the QPAC Concert Hall.
What could suit the weird and wonderful antics of Alice’s adventures in Wonderland better than mesmerising aerialists, mind-bending contortionists and exquisite puppetry? A joyous spectacle of heart-stopping moments and unforgettable performances, Cirque Alice is a fantastical extravaganza for all ages. All of the carefully choreographed chaos is set against an enthralling, all-new soundtrack of contemporary renditions and remixes of some of the world’s favourite classical hits by Norwegian composers Martin Raabe-Olsen and Marius Christiansen. QPAC’s Klais Grand Organ will get a workout, hammering out hits like ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’, the ‘Flower Duet’, ‘Für Elise’ and more.
With one of the greatest international circus casts in Australian history rounding out the novel’s roster of classic characters, Cirque Alice will see rising Australian star soprano Layla Schillert frock up in the titular role, while comedy magician Jeff Hobson will lead audiences on a riotous adventure as The Mad Hatter. The two-hour spectacular will also feature Oleg Tatarynov on aerial pole as The Butterfly, Alexandre Lane as The March Hare in the Cyr wheel, Maria Sarach hand-balancing as The Queen of Hearts and Mongolian contortionists Tsetseglen Odgerel, Bayarmaa Ganbat, Baigalmaa Chuluun and Dolgorsuren Ganbold bamboozling as The Caterpillar.
