Concerts on in Brisbane this weekend

Birdman Randy and The Ivory Street Preachers’ are re-envisioning the tunes we love this Saturday 26 April. Pop down to Felons Barrel Hall at 8pm for an energetic night of pop-classics, Latino-dance tunes, RnB club bangers and more!

Get ready for an electrifying night of nostalgic tunes as Cool Britannia take the stage at The Triffid. What makes this event one-of-a-kind is that the Brisbane Symphony Orchestra Quartet will be joining on stage for a few songs. Experience this 90’s Britpop extravaganza for one night only on Saturday 26 April.

Dangerbird (Side project of Brissy favourite – The Honey Sliders) will be transporting fans right back to the late 60’s and early 70’s at Felons’s Barrel Hall. Led by three-time ARIA Award-nominated singer, guitarist and songwriter, Danny Widdicombe, don’t miss this free event on Sunday 27 April.

Head down to The Triffid Garden on Sunday April 27 for the last weekend of QUBE Effect 2025. Emerging Brisbane musicians have been battling it out over over the last few weeks, ahead of the upcoming public voting and awards night.

Theatre and live events on in Brisbane this weekend

Discover the secret power of words with The Dictionary of Lost Words theatre kicking off this Saturday 26 April at QPAC Playhouse. Adapted from Pip Williams’ award-winning New York Times bestseller, brought to life by Verity Laughton and directed by Jessica Arthur – it’s no wonder this play has become a huge success. Fresh off a triumphant national tour, the RocKwiz gang are back for a roaring night of entertainment at QPAC Concert HallIf you’re out of the loop, this is a live on-stage incarnation of the cult hit TV show RocKwiz that aired on SBS for 175 episodes. Prepare for almost three hours of comedy, music and quizzing on Saturday 26 April.

Spend an evening in conversation with actor, writer, podcaster and fearless activist – Jameela Jamil. Jameela will be hosting a captivating talk exploring issues from mental health to climate justice to representation for marginalised communities at QPAC Concert Hall on Sunday April 27.

Prepare to embark on a cinematic journey like no other as the Australian premiere of GIFT takes centre stage at the GOMA this week. This groundbreaking audiovisual collaboration between musician-composer Eiko Ishibashi and celebrated filmmaker Ryusuke Hamaguchi promises an immersive experience that pushes the boundaries of sound, image and narrative. Brisbane Comedy Festival is back from Wednesday April 23 to Sunday May 25 at Brisbane Powerhouse. Touted as the biggest and funniest iteration of the festival yet, the 2025 giant five-week program will feature more than 135 acts performing across four venues. Art and exhibitions on in Brisbane this weekend

Outer Space invites you to explore The Rigorabana, The Balawaia by Dean Ansell. This immersive exhibition explores Melanesian heritage, environmental processes, and the transmission of Indigenous knowledge through the lens of familial storytelling and cultural practice from Papua Niugini. All are welcome to attend the opening night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday April 25.

Multidisciplinary artist Danie Mellor is showcasing historical ‘truths’ in a new light through a profound and visually arresting body of work at QAGOMA. Titled marru | the unseen visible, Mellor invites audiences to experience and reflect on the relationship between First Nations people, culture and Country, and the environmental and social impact of colonial history.

Museum of Brisbane’s new major exhibition Precious showcases a stunning assemblage of items generously loaned from around 30 remarkable collections and collectors. Explore Brisbane through more than 3000 precious objects that reveal intriguing stories of culture, place, family and tradition, travel and trade.

Get hands-on at Micro Museum in the Museum of Brisbane open daily from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Pint-sized curators are encouraged to create their own collections from a huge range of vintage treasures, inspired by MoB’s Precious exhibition with a series of colour-filled, creative series of immersive experiences and interactive activities.

The Asia Pacific Triennial is in its final weeks of display at QAGOMA. Continuing its 11th year with more than 500 artworks by artists from over 30 countries. Exhibition attendees can expect to discover a vibrant multi-part project from Haus Yuriyal (a collective of 28 artists from Papua New Guinea), a three-dimensional installation of suspended tunnels, cascading curtains and towering scrolls from leading Thai artist Mit Jai Inn, portraits of everyday life in Hong Kong by senior painter Yeung Tong Lung as well as plenty more installations, paintings, sculptures and multi-disciplinary projects.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to stroll through Museum of Brisbane’s New Light: Photography Now + Then and are on the hunt for a free photography exhibition then go check it out. The collection features a mesmerising display of photographs (spanning from 1890 to 2024) by amateur Brisbane photographer Alfred Henrie Elliott (1870-1954). These extraordinary images laid dormant for decades until they were discovered in 1983, stored in cedar cigar boxes beneath a home in Red Hill.
