A new coffee spot with a Vietnamese twist is set to open in The City next month. Black Drip Coffee – the latest venture from the crew behind popular Algester noshery PAIISE Cafe – is currently taking shape on George Street in the 180-sqm space formerly home to Frankie & George (which has relocated across the street). GVU Architects and ENP FITOUTS are working on Black Drip Coffee’s design and build, respectively, with the team implementing a clean and minimal aesthetic across interior and covered courtyard spaces. Much like at PAIISE Cafe, Black Drip Coffee will serve a hybrid menu encompassing Vietnamese and Australian-inspired dishes, starting with the likes of banh mis, noodle salads and rice paper rolls. A hot display will be filled with an array of classic Aussie breakfast morsels, with time-poor city folk able to breeze through to make their own plate. On the caffeine front, Black Drip Coffee will be serving its own specialty blend via espresso alongside batch-brewed Vietnamese coffees for those looking for an extra-strong jolt. Meanwhile, the cafe will also serve a clutch of specialty drinks like sugarcane juice and tiramisu lattes. You won’t have long to wait for Black Drip Coffee to open – the team is targeting early November for its official launch date. Be sure to follow along on socials for updates!
