As the old saying goes, nothing is certain except death and taxes. We believe it extends beyond that – for if you step inside one of Cuatro Group’s bars (such as Cobbler, Dr Gimlette and Antico), you can be certain you’re in for a good time. Death & Taxes sits inside a secluded space on Burnett Lane, taking inspiration from the moody cocktail bars of London and Paris. Previously a storage space, elements of Death & Taxes remain semi-industrial, offset by dark wood panelling, leather stools and booths, and rustic features illuminated by low lighting. In true Cuatro Group style, the bar is very spirit focused, with the four-metre-tall back bar highlighting whisky as well as gin, rum, tequila and mescal. The team has created a 30-strong list of unique flavour-driven cocktails, alongside a contemporary and fun wine selection. The wine list moves away from discernible themes, with the only judging criteria being taste. There’s something for everyone, with older and contemporary varieties featuring. Mainstream beers are available on tap, with an assortment of bottles also available for quaffing.
