Kevin is a charming cafe that is serving sensational brunch fare and specialty coffee. Owned and operated by hospitality veterans Sam Holman (Blackout in Paddington) and Yolanda van Houtte (Drip in Newstead), Kevin occupies a character-filled workers cottage on Brunswick Street, which has been lovingly restored to boast a farmhouse-inspired aesthetic (solid timber floorboards, VJ panels, sea-green tiled coffee counter, olive-hued banquettes and rattan shelving). The team are using produce sourced from its own farm to craft brunch dishes elevated with some fine-dining techniques. The avocado toast (with zucchini, yuzu, goats cheese and seven-spice pepitas), the ‘nduja scramble (soft herbs, smoked yoghurt and biang biang sauce) and the summer chai semolina porridge (blood plums, elderflower, coconut crumbs and lemon honey) are stand-outs. There is also a build-your-own brunch offering for those that can’t go past a classic. On the coffee front, espresso pours are available alongside cold drip, batch brew and a rotating list of frozen single origins, plus freshly squeezed juices and specialty smoothies. Kevin is open every day of the year.
