Mademoiselle is a chic Parisian-inspired bistro from the Rise Bakery team that opened at Portside Wharf in November 2024. Looking to give diners taste of contemporary French cuisine across lunch and dinner services, Rise Bakery’s co-owners Harry Ohayon and Maxime Bournazel have transformed a 245-sqm site with a healthy dose of art de vivre. Sydney-based architect Tom Mark Henry and local construction crew Lowry Group have given the space a chic makeover, with marble and stone complemented by a sense of warmth and approachability. The bar divides the venue into two – a cocktail bar sits on one side and a formal restaurant space and private-dining room on the other, while Mademoiselle also boasts 100 sqm of alfresco dining space. On the menu, head chef Laurent Hoffarth is showcasing timeless French cuisine with some modern inflections, including brasserie staples like rotisserie meats, gourmet salads and daily chef specials. As the restaurant’s food menu will be shifting to match the seasons, Mademoiselle’s wine list has been kept concise to allow for greater flexibility to add and subtract as necessary. The cocktail list is distinctly French, with classics like the Kir Royal, Boulevardier, French martini, The 1789 available alongside a black raspberry margarita, a Chambord spritz and a selection of French beers on tap.
