MEDÉ Modern Mediterranean in Bulimba is the latest culinary concept from Anna and Paul Adams, the owners of beloved pan-Asian restaurant Melrose. Taking over the site previously home to King Crab Co on Oxford Street, MEDÉ is treating diners to a broad menu encompassing traditional and contemporary trends. Head chef Sam Richards (formerly of Cloudland and Manly Boathouse) is utilising local produce – think grass-fed meats and line-caught fish – across the board, with standout dishes including sizzling serves of saganaki with pickled figs, fresh Mooloolaba king prawns swimming in Tunisian-style spiced cocktail sauce, twice-cooked Darling Downs lamb noisettes with chermoula and pistachio labne, and barbecued line-caught whole coral trout with esplette pepper butter. On the drinks front, a globe-trotting wine list and a clutch of classic and signature cocktails are also on offer. Brooke Harlander from Retail Collective Co and Tonic Projects were engaged to give the corner site a bright and clean makeover, with premium touches like marble tabletops and olive-green furnishings designed to evoke the feeling of a lavish Mediterranean holiday.
