Bakehouse & Cafe has taken over the space previously home to Penny Coffee Co., transforming it into a haven for those looking to take their taste buds on a walk down memory lane with a menu encompassing house-made pastries and desserts, a menu of savoury dishes and sustainably sourced coffee. A renovation process has imprinted a timber-heavy vintage-inspired aesthetic on the cosy space, which also boasts an al fresco dining space in the back yard. Nos. Bakehouse’s menu is serving savoury brunch and sweets, with signature items including Japanese egg mayo sandos on house-made shokupan, fork-tender slow-cooked beef ribs and twice-baked Callebaut dark chocolate cake with Speculoos jam filling and Seville orange creme anglaise. There’s also coffee from Five Senses and specialty drinks like Basque cheesecake iced lattes and lavender-topped caffeinated concoctions.
