When we ask our pals on the Gold Coast for coffee and casual dining recommendations, their hit-list usually includes a stop at O Bagel in Broadbeach. It’s easy to see why. Lines are a common sight at O Bagel, with hoards of customers queuing to sink their teeth into the crunchy golden-brown exterior and delightfully fluffy interior of an O Bagel bagel. Well, as of December 2022, we no longer need to make the pilgrimage south to get a taste – O Bagel can now be found on Elizabeth Street in The City! Brisbane eaters are able to enjoy the same menu as their Gold Coast counterparts, which starts with a six-strong selection of bagel flavours (plain, sesame, poppy seed, spinache and cheese, blueberry and everything), which can then be adorned simply with the likes of house-cured salmon and plain cream cheese, avocado and whipped citrusy fetta, or wood-smoked ham with mozzarella and tomato. If you’ve got a hankering for something more substantial, O Bagel’s menu also features stuffed sandwich-style options including the NYC (house-made egg salad with wood-smoked ham, lettuce, Swiss cheese and relish), the Gold Bar (spice roasted pumpkin, spinach, maple-whipped fetta, walnut dukkah and rocket pesto), the Classy Lox (48-hour house-cured salmon, soft-herb cream cheese, baby capers, tomato and red onion) and the G’Morning (maple bacon, easy-over egg, hash brown, American cheddar, parmesan aioli and smoked-tomato relish). The crew is also be dispensing cold-brew coffee, with caffeinated sips blended with coconut water, caramel oat milk and maple syrup-infused coconut milk.
