Guy Grossi, a veteran Italian-Australian chef and hospitality mogul, expanded his restaurant portfolio to Brisbane 2023 with Settimo – his first venture in the city and seventh overall. This 150-seat restaurant draws inspiration from the Amalfi Coast’s coastal cuisine, blending local and imported ingredients for a menu that features house-made pasta, seafood, and classic Italian fare like pizza fritte, scialatielli all’Amalfitana and tiramisu. The design, created by Mills Gorman Architects, mirrors the region’s architecture with terrazzo, ceramics, and vibrant blues and yellows. Settimo’s atmosphere is laid-back yet sophisticated, inspired by Italian film icon Sophia Loren’s blend of elegance and attitude. With a focus on produce-driven dishes, the restaurant emphasises both Italian and Queensland ingredients, from anchovy extract and buffalo mozzarella to local seafood. The wine list, curated by sommelier Deniz Hardman, highlights Italian varieties alongside Australian takes on Italian wines.
