Sushi and sashimi lovers, take note.

Brisbane Quarter is home to one of Brisbane’s biggest Japanese restaurants – bringing together the cuisine’s best elements under one roof. Tenya is a sizeable eatery that has slotted in next to Persone, Phoenix Brisbane and Phatboy in the stunning space formerly occupied by Heritij underneath W Brisbane. The restaurant boasts one of the best vantage points in town, with a river-facing position offering views of South Bank’s Cultural Centre and beyond. Tenya’s interior is incredibly spacious, with an earthy palette of materials – think stone, timber and warm lighting – creating a modern-yet-relaxed atmosphere across exterior and interior dining spaces, including shielded booths for groups and an impressive curved bar. The kitchen dispenses an incredible cross-section of Japanese-inspired eats, including top-notch sashimi platters, mouth-watering yakimono skewers, sensational sushi and nigiri, an assortment of hot and cold mains, and even set lunch menus. A 30-seat VIP room features its own private balcony space for exclusive functions, while a 10-seat kaiseki and omakase room near the kitchen will host indulgent degustation-style feasts curated by Tenya’s head chef. Tenya’s beverage list features pure-rice sake (ginjo, daiginjo and tokubetsu grades, plus barrel-aged taruzake and yeaster-starter kimoto sake), Japanese whisky, beer and a lengthy list of worldly wines.
