The Fifty Six, Naldham House’s top-floor Cantonese-inspired restaurant, is the brainchild of DAP & Co.’s Andrew Baturo, Paul Piticco, and Denis Sheahan. Inspired by their visits to Hong Kong and Brisbane’s early history, the group named the restaurant after the 56 Chinese immigrants who contributed to Brisbane’s formative composition. Designed by Anna Spiro, the vibrant space blends heritage elements with bold colours and contemporary aesthetics, transporting guests to another time and place, and offering a sophisticated and immersive dining experience. Head chef Gerald Ong, known for merging traditional Cantonese techniques with Australian produce, has crafted a menu that respects Cantonese pillars of freshness, balance, and elegance. Dishes like drunken prawn tarts, dim sum, and roast meats reflect the evolving traditions of Chinese cuisine, while an innovative drinks menu complements the experience.
