The Junk Bar is an icon of both Brisbane’s live music and cocktail scene. Founded in 2010 by Mia Goodwin and Jamie Trevaskis, The Junk Bar was originally located on Waterworks Road in Ashgrove, where it first earned a reputation for its killer drinks and calendar of eclectic gigs. The Junk Bar was purchased by current owners Dylan and Karen Proctor in 2020, who then transported the venue to New Farm in 2024, reopening in a two-level space on Brunswick Street. The team has retained The Junk Bar’s vintage and pre-loved furnishings, giving its street-level bar space a cosy, lived-in feel. Up here, guest can quaff cocktails, wines and beers while kicking back and listening to vinyl tunes. An on-site kitchen is overseen by the team behind Bill’s Burgers and El Corazón, with the likes of cheeseburger spring rolls, chicken wings and birria tacos featuring on the menu. Downstairs sits The Junk Bar’s live-music space, the Skukum Lounge. Boasting a log cabin aesthetic, top-of-the-range gear and its own bar, the 120-capacity room is the place to an assortment of shows from local musicians, comedians and more.
