If you love a bit if old-world opulence to pair with your steak, Walter’s Steakhouse has an interior that needs to be seen to be believed. Inspired by Euro brasseries and high-class New York eateries, DAP & Co.’s flagship steakhouse Walter’s boasts red-leather booth seating, marble tables and the warm glow of brass-bottomed lamps. Steak is clearly central to the offering here, with the whopping grain-fed porterhouse the undoubted hero of the menu alongside a 30-day dry-aged New York strip or the 200-g eye fillet. That said, there’s much more to the Walter’s menu worth trying, including prawn cocktails with romaine lettuce and house cocktail sauce, bone marrow with herb and porcini crust, blue swimmer crab cakes with Old Bay Spice mayonnaise, Australian bay lobster spaghetti with confit garlic and butter sauce, potato and cheese-filled pierogis, and Margra lamb shortloin cooked on the bone. Walter’s also boasts an extensive wine list, with rare vintages available via Coravin, while the cocktail list showcases the drinks yesteryear, revived with modern techniques.
