Warisan in Fortitude Valley is the latest eatery from the team behind Luckies Kitchen in Bulimba. Here, it’s all about Indonesian cuisine, with head chef Alfan ‘Alfie’ Musthafa taking guests on a region-hopping tour of the country’s street-food offering. Warisan’s menu is designed to share easily amongst groups, with dishes categorised small, medium and large. Snacks like jagung bakar (grilled corn with your pick of garlic butter or sweet-and-spicy chilli sauce), otak-otak (steamed and grilled fish cake in banana leaf) are available alongside bigger plates of nasi goreng (Javanese-style fried rice) and ayam bakar taliwang (grilled chicken marinated in Lombok red chilli paste). Much like at Luckies Kitchen, Warisan offers one of the best-value banquets going, as well as a dedicated selection of vegan and plant-based dishes. Lunch specials are also big here, with dishes like nasi goreng, mushroom ifumi, beef kailo pot pie available for a steal. On the drinks front, expect to find a long list of refreshing cocktails, Australian wines and craft beers on tap.
