After a smashing success at its Brisbane debut last year, global art phenomenon Affordable Art Fair will be returning to the Brisbane Showgrounds with a four-day celebration of accessible art from May 8–11. Whether you’re a lover of landscapes, smitten with sculpture or an adorer of abstracts, the Affordable Art Fair is the perfect place for money-conscious aesthetes to nab an original artwork – all priced between $100 and $10,000.
Falling over Mother’s Day weekend (making for a great family outing or a place to pick up a thoughtful gift, hint, hint), Affordable Art Fair Brisbane will bring together 50 Australian galleries, showcasing emerging talent, First Nations artists, interactive exhibitions and live painting experiences. The family-friendly affair will even include an immersive underwater-inspired Children’s Art Studio, where budding artists of all ages can explore an underwater wonderland filled with sea life including a seven-metre hand-painted mural, watercolour whales, colouring activities and free face painting.
Stroll through a dizzying display of thousands of original artworks under one roof, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, limited-edition prints and more. Discover new works that speak to your soul and see artists in action with live painting demonstrations from Nick Olsen of Red Hill Gallery, Jan Du Rand of Salt Contemporary Art, Caitlin Lever of Stevens Street Gallery, Phillip Edwards of Sarah Birtles Art + Advice and Brad Turner of Brad Turner Creative. You can also enjoy two pop art-inspired interactive installations from District 23 – Plucka Duck claw machine and neon-lit The Umbrella Effect.
