Tue May 13 2025 - Wed March 19 2025,
Winton and Longreach
Opera will head west from May 13–19, when the fifth Festival of Outback Opera takes over the towns of Winton and Longreach. This year’s event will see Grammy Award-winning coloratura soprano Sumi Jo perform, emphasising Opera Queensland’s commitment to bringing world-class talent to regional audiences. Headlining this year’s program, Sumi’s stratospheric upper range, technical brilliance and endearing diva playfulness have made her the highest-selling classical singer in the world, with over 50 albums and a career that spans the world’s most celebrated opera stages. Under the breathtaking Outback skies and against iconic country backdrops, the Festival of Outback Opera’s series of concerts will feature everything from formal galas and large-scale outdoor performances, to fine dining events and pub sing-a-longs. We can guarantee this is unlike any other music performance you have experienced!
Frock up for the Opera Ball or make new friends in the pub over a casual sing-a-long. Gather under the night skies for Dark Sky Serenade or enjoy an afternoon of beautiful singing and fine-dining at the Long Lunch. OQ’s hit show, Are You Lonesome Tonight, touring nationally in 2025, brings a bit of country to the Outback, stopping in Winton and Longreach during the festival. This year’s festival will feature a new event – a music trivia night. There really is something for everyone.
