After nearly three glorious weeks of street food, public art and fresh beats, Night Feast will be coming to an end this weekend. But as they say, don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened – and nothing will get you grinning like one final night of delectable dishes, groovin’ tunes and riverside antics. Keep reading to find out what’s in store for Night Feast’s final days …
Suffice it to say, this year’s edition of Night Feast has been a staggering success. With new additions to the culinary line-up as well as a world-class program of artists, the epicurean extravaganza has ushered hundreds of diners through the lush surrounds of the Powerhouse for a total feast of the senses. For its final few days, Night Feast’s class of tastemakers will be closing out the season with unmissable menus of culinary feats.
First timers should start their Night Feast pilgrimage by grabbing a seat at the hallowed Sapporo x Boom Boom Room Izakaya tent. A collision of Tokyo cuisine and Japan’s finest beer, the collaboration has curated a menu to perfectly pair with the iconic taste of Sapporo beers. In the kitchen, Tokyo-born Takashi ‘Taka’ Tokushige will be serving up a slice of izakaya excellence with soft shell crab handrolls, crunchy chicken gyoza, golden pork katsu curry and much more.
From there, stroll through the bustling promenade of food stalls, where some of Brisbane’s finest chefs have created exclusive dishes to mark the occasion. Central (the City’s newest restaurant from the Southside and Rick Shores teams) made its festival debut this year, giving diners the chance to sample the brand-new eatery’s delicacies. On the menu, you can’t look past the 9+ wagyu kampot pepper stir fry with crispy confit potato and manuka honey, served with fresh jasmine rice. Levantine lovers should flock to Gerard’s for a mouth-watering manoushe with eggplant kasundi and garlic yoghurt, whilst Cartel Del Taco will be serving up Torta De Birria (a Mexican street sandwich with slow-cooked beef birria) to satiate your craving for authentic Mexican street food.
At the precinct’s multiple bars, find a stacked menu of libations from hand-picked wine lists to delicious cocktails. The limoncello institution LouisB has even shaken and stirred an exclusive concoction for the event. The lemon sorbet float is a delectable combination of lemon sorbet, limoncello and prosecco – the perfect cocktail to toast to the end of this year’s Night Feast.
Close out the night with a trip to the Pleasuredome, where QUIVR (Brisbane’s resident home of everything DJ) has curated a stellar line-up of acts, spinning a bevy of beats from local artists. On Friday night, catch the likes of jazz electronica artist Kodos and QUIVR-local Luke Brazier whilst lo-fi hip-hop master Baby Paws and ’80s-dance devotee will rock out the Saturday night.
Of course, there will also be spades of art installations waiting to be discovered as well as roaming performers. Find out more about Night Feast’s art line-up here.
Night Feast will be running nightly from 4:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday and Friday and from 3:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Find out more here.
