In need of a good belly laugh? Well, buckle up – GC Laughs Festival is back at HOTA this March, and it’s bringing a star-studded bill of international comedy heavyweights and homegrown stars. Held from March 13–23, the sensational comedy showcase will deliver more than a week’s worth of non-stop laughs, chuckles, cackles and snorts. Here’s what’s in store …
The stacked GC Laughs Festival’s 2025 line-up has been dubbed one of its biggest yet, and you won’t want to miss a minute of the action. Get your giggle on from five-star shows by award-winning funny folk like Alex Ward, Geraldine Hickey, Michelle Brasier, He Huang, Lou Wall and Ray O’Leary.
Kiwi comedy queen Melanie Bracewell will unpack the last decade of her life in her new show A Little Treat, while Pete Rowsthorn (who plays Brett on Kath & Kim) will be talking life, TV and aging ungraciously in KEEN. Lizzy Hoo also returns with her new show Deja Hoo, which covers everything from pickleball to overcommitting and bungee jumping.
The likes of Mel Buttle, Tommy Little, Dave Hughes, Bron Lewis and Zoë Coombs Marr will also be dishing up their finest side-splitting material across the ten-day festival. The eye-watering hilarity will be showcased across various venues at HOTA, packing out the theatres and a pop-up Spiegeltent, with a handful of more intimate stand-up shows held downstairs in The Basement.
A friendly heads up – be quick to book your tickets, this stellar series of hour-long live comedy shows are selling fast. Scope out your favourites via the GC Laughs website and secure your seats, pronto!
