If you too possess a solid appreciation for artisan croissants and beautiful baked goods, start planning a pilgrimage to Bake House Gozen, stat. The new Molendinar-based bakery is the handiwork of Maki Jinno, who many may recognise as the friendly face from the Palm Beach Farmers Markets, has finally opened her first bricks-and-mortar space. If the limited seating didn’t give it away, Bake House Gozen is an exercise in quality over quantity – Maki will only ever make a limited number of croissants per day, and once they’re gone, they’re gone, so best to get in quick! According to Maki, what makes her croissants unique is that she uses organic ingredients including French butter and weaves elements of Japanese cooking to create a unique flavour. Each croissant takes upwards of three days to make. Gracing the shelves, you’ll find both sweet and savoury options, including Japanese curry, chilli kransky and a popular matcha-infused zucchini croissant. The menu will change with the seasons. Because croissants and coffee go hand in hand, Maki is also running Merlo coffee for your to sip while you savour. Gozen means ‘the morning’ in Japanese, which is the perfect time to enjoy Maki’s incredible croissant creations.
