Surfers Paradise has welcomed a brand-new bar made entirely of ice! It’s called IceBar Surfers Paradise and it’s made from 44 tonnes of ice and sits at a crisp minus 10 all year round. The venue is the second in the family for Bobby and Charlotte Stephens, who also own a similar venture in Melbourne’s Fed Square. The bar works like this – you pay an entry fee that includes your entry to the bar, cosy clothing (think oversized oodies, gloves and snug UGG boots), and a cocktail to thaw you out. Once you’re kit out in winter woolies, step through the double doors and be greeted by a mesmerising sight – wall-to-wall ice, with each brick weighing in at 130 kg. Filling the space is an air hockey table made entirely of ice, ice sculptures (including a gnarly wave with a surfboard photo station) and even an icy throne fit for royalty. A towering seven-foot Yeti commands attention from the corner, and there are several photo spots available within the bar. Feeling competitive? Take on your mates in a game of Connect Four or Jenga – they might not be made of ice, but they sure add to the fun. The drinks menu is carefully curated to include temperature-appropriate sips from the likes of 78 Degrees Distillery and FNQ Rum Co. Feeling adventurous? Give the ski shot a try – trust us, it’s ‘snow’ much harder than it looks.

Each session is limited to 45-minutes and the experience is suitable for families as well as couples and groups.
