LimLay is the show-stopping new 100-seater that has amalgamated two prominent sites along the Gold Coast Highway (formerly occupied by SuzyBBQ and Ghanda) in Burleigh Heads. The impressive space is the latest from hospitality veterans Pattaree (Pat) Jiranuchaiwattana and Vitchaya (Alex) Hasitawet (Nahm Talay Thai in Surfers Paradise, Nahm Thai in Coomera, Chong Co Thai at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, and most recently, Valyn Thai Restaurant & Bar in Isle of Capri). Inspired by street food, the eatery brings together traditional flavours from all over Thailand alongside modern, high-end plating techniques to create a thoroughly unique and delicious dining experience. Depending on the time of day and your culinary preference, there are a few different menus on offer, ranging from grab and go bites through to traditional Thai favourites and modern interpretations. By day and into the early evening, LimLay is envisaged as a beautiful family-friendly Thai eatery inspired by the flavoursome fare you would find sizzling away on a barbecue in the streets of Thailand. As the night rolls on, the music gets a little louder as the DJs take the reins and the food menu transitions to smaller bites such as chicken wings and beef skewers. The drinks get a little stronger and more elaborate, too, case in point the Wonder Wheel, which is 12 shots of vodka and lemonade that arrives at your table in a Ferris wheel.
