The Beach Hotel Broadbeach has transformed the former Fat Freddy’s along Surf Paradise into a local-centric watering hole. In terms of the menu, it’s elevated pub fare. Classic beer-drinking food such as buckets of tiger prawns, fried-chicken wings, parmis and burgers are flanked by slightly more elevated eats, including the likes of kingfish sashimi, freshly shucked oysters, bulbs of burrata and salmon poke bowls. There is a scattering of hand-stretched pizzas ranging from kid-friendly ham and pineapple to the spicy ‘nudja, which features prawns, mozzarella, tomato, basil and a drizzle of hot honey, but it’s the steaks that are the venue’s true specialty with a rump and a rib eye to choose from.
