The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award 2024 showcases a dynamic collection of works by leading Australian artists at the forefront of photographic media. As a significant survey of contemporary photographic practice, the award highlights the evolving nature of the medium and the ways artists use it to craft bold, thought-provoking images.
With a $25,000 acquisitive prize, the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award is the most prestigious photography prize in Queensland, open to all Australian artists working in contemporary photography. Visitors can also vote for their favourite piece in the People’s Choice Award, with the winner receiving a $5000 prize.
Since the award’s inception, more than 60 works have been acquired by HOTA, building a celebrated collection that captures the shifting cultural and social landscape of Australia over two decades. Past award winners include renowned artists such as wani toaishara, Tamara Dean, Shaun Gladwell, Darren Sylvester, Lynne Roberts-Goodwin, Polixeni Papapetrou, Polly Borland and Cherine Fahd.
