The Solento Surf Festival, curated by award-winning surf filmmaker Taylor Steele, is making its Gold Coast debut from June 7–14, bringing a week of surf, film, art and music to beautiful Burleigh Heads, Mondrian Gold Coast, and HOTA, Home of the Arts. After a successful Australian launch in 2023, the festival will showcase world premieres, captivating surf films and panel discussions with celebrated athletes and filmmakers. The event will kick off with a community surf contest at Burleigh Headland, followed by live music, a pop-up beach bar and food vendors. Taylor Steele will also host a filmmaking masterclass at HOTA, where attendees can learn about storyboarding, production and post-production. The final weekend will highlight surf films, performances and discussions at Mondrian Gold Coast.
The festival embraces the Gold Coast’s rich surf culture and creative energy, with the support of local businesses and brand partners like Experience Gold Coast, Mondrian Gold Coast, and Vissla. It will also feature an art exhibit at HOTA, with works by artists like Otis Carey and Jai Vasicek.
