Mirror, mirror on the wall, table, ceiling and floor – Surfers Paradise welcomes a striking new Mirror Bar

Seeing double is normally a sign you need to make a hasty exit for home, but in the case of Surfers Paradise’s brand-new immersive bar experience, that’s all part of the fun. Mirror Bar is being hailed the ‘first of its kind’ where the entire venue – including the floor, ceiling, walls and even the bar itself – are all made of mirrors. If you’re up for a little self reflection, read on …

Following on from the success of the Gold Coast’s first Ice Bar, which opened in February 2024, owners Bobby and Charlotte Stephens are back with another brow-raising adventure. The pair were on the lookout (pun intended) for a similarly fun concept to utilise the space above their winter wonderland when Bobby had the idea for a mirror bar. They were walking around Albert Park Lake in Melbourne at the time, and Charlotte recalls her first response was “you’re crazy.” By the time they had made their way around the lake, he’d convinced her the idea had merit and the wheels were in motion tackling the logistics of creating something that, to their knowledge, hadn’t been done before.

When we say everything is made from mirrors, we mean it. The seats, the tables, the bar, the walls, the ceiling, and yes, even the floor. The floor is constructed from toughened glass with mirror backing, while the furniture is heavily polished stainless steel. Upon arrival, patrons are given a pair of non-slip socks (and for those in skirts or dresses, there are also bike pants you can borrow while you’re in there), and the sessions run for 45-minutes. As you step inside the bar, you are greeted with your own reflection from every possible angle. The Kaleidoscope room, however, will make you feel like you’ve stumbled into a scene from Alice in Wonderland. With mirrors at all different angles and LED-strip lighting creating fun effects, it’s a wild sensory experience.

As for the drinks, Mirror Bar’s cocktail list is similar to Ice Bar downstairs, carved into classic, signature and premium sips. The Lost Explorer – a zingy mezcal paloma – is a vibe, but if you’re in the mood for something a little left of centre, The Green Lady is the venue’s twist on a white lady and is made with Green Ant Gin that’s made with actual ants to give it a citrusy pop.

Mirror Bar is suitable for adults and families with children aged four and over. For opening times, head to our Stumble Guide.
