Sipping cocktails against a backdrop of rolling waves is a quintessential Gold Coast experience. If you’re partial to a brew with a view, Miami has welcomed a brand-new beachfront tapas bar called Sandfire. Offering a globe-trotting menu, pina-colada flights and a hint of salt lingering in the air as a constant reminder you are mere steps away from the beach, Sandfire has all of the fundamental elements for a good time. Take a peek …

You’ll find Miami’s newest absolute beachfront tapas bar, Sandfire, nestled atop North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club. With a dreamy coastal aesthetic, Sandfire is far cry from the venue’s former life as the function space for the surf club. The chic 100-seater is furnished with a range of seating areas, from comfy couches to while away an afternoon, to high bar-style tables to really soak in the view. Sandfire has transformed the previously under-utilised space into an elevated dining experience befitting of such an iconic outlook.

The venue offers an elevated dining experience with a coastal-inspired menu boasting influences that span the globe. Start your culinary journey in South Australia with some Coffin Bay oysters, before heading to Asia to pick at a plate of Japanese-style tuna sashimi with zingy wasabi and ginger dressing. Next up is a stopover in Scandinavia, with the Swedish prawn skagen (round-cut toast with trawler prawns, house mayonnaise, lemon, dill, red onion, garnished with caviar and micro-herbs), and Italy with a smoked-salmon blini (Italian-style pancake topped with cream cheese, smoked salmon, dill and micro herbs). For those who prefer land-based proteins, there’s the twice-cooked pork belly, macadamia-crusted lamb cutlets and the French classic duck à l’orange, featuring a 62-degree duck breast, charred and served with potato galette and spinach with a light orange jus.

Not to be outdone by the fare, the selection of sips is equally as curated, starting with a selection of signature cocktails. Among the notable inclusions is a pina-colada flight that journeys to the past, present and future with three different iterations on the classic beverage, alongside the Sandfire tea pot, which is best shared among two. Sandfire’s bar is stocked with a solid selection of spirits, craft beers and drops from the world’s major wine regions. Sandfire is available for private events as well as general dining.
