If you’re a fan of the beloved Social Eating House + Bar, we have some exciting news – owners Dayna and Matt Jefferson have opened a daytime dining destination called Marina Social. Bringing breezy Euro vibes to Marina Mirage, the new nosh spot is elevating your morning with coffee and Breaky Croissant Wheels.
When it comes to elevated dining on the Gold Coast, Social Eating House + Bar is undoubtedly among the cream of the crop. Owners Matt and Dayna Jefferson know fine dining like the back of their hands, with every detail from the food to the service executed to perfection. Now the seasoned restauranteurs have delved into unfamiliar territory with Marina Social – daytime dining. The pair have been on the hunt for a new spot for a while, but the right opportunity hadn’t popped up, until now. As it turns out, Marina Mirage and the Oracle share a landlord, which opened the door for an exciting opportunity to activate an existing cafe space and turn it into Marina Social.
With the bones already in place, it was a no brainer for Dayna and Matt, who have once again worked with Here Agency to bring the brand to life, featuring pops of sunshine yellow and blue.
Chef Daniel Chen leads the breakfast offering, crafting a menu that caters to both classic tastes, with the likes of eggs on toast and a breakfast burger, as well as those who fancy something a little different. The stand-out so far, Dayna tells us, has been the Breaky Croissant Wheel, which is a mouth-watering creation of pork-and-fennel sausage, fried egg and ranch dressing toasted within a croissant wheel. Hot tip – add bacon jam for an extra hit of flavour. When lunch rolls around, there’s a selection of toast, bites and sandwiches, including the Pan Con Tomato (grated Roma tomatoes, garlic, crisp prosciutto, stracciatella and chives on a grilled sourdough). Fans of Social Eating House will also be pleased to know that the signature chicken dish has made its way to the Marina Social menu, but with a delicious daytime twist.
As for drinks, you’ll find Burleigh’s Social Espresso on pour, alongside freshly squeezed orange juice, which is so simple and underrated. Although you can add a splash of prosecco if you fancy something a little bubblier. There are also plans for a full cocktail selection to drop just in time for peak summer sipping.
Although Marina Social is technically a pop-up, Dayna and Matt have no firm plans on a departure date. “We are just rolling with it,” Dayna says. “Breakfast is a completely new concept for us and the location is new territory having been at the Oracle for 12 years. If it feels good we will keep going.”
