The humble rotisserie chicken – or bachelor’s handbag, as it is also known – is as versatile as it is tasty. Perfect on its own, mixed with salad or tossed in sauce to bulk out a pasta dish, there’s no end to the ways you can jazz it up. If you too possess an appreciation for primo poultry, we have some cluckin’ excellent news – Robina Town Centre has welcomed Queensland’s first Camy’s Chargrill Chicken.

Camy’s Chargrill Chicken is not your average chook nook. Since opening its first location in Mascot back in 2016, owner Cameron Khilla has been on a mission to spread his wings, with nine franchised venues dotted around New South Wales, including the new Queensland-based outpost. The new noshery is perched at the entrance of The Kitchens, and as you may have deduced by now, chicken is the hero here. The birds take nearly three days to prepare, ensuring each one is infused with Camy’s signature spice mix, which draws inspiration from flavor profiles that range from the Middle East to Colombia.

The menu spans from humble plates of chicken – available by the quarter, half or full bird – paired with crisp battered chips or salad, to a rocking range of burgers, wraps, wings and salads. While it’s still early days for the Robina location, the Camy’s Special burger (panko-crumbed schnitzel, cheddar, lettuce, creamy mayo and chilli sauce) has been a crowd favourite. While salads are often an afterthought, at Camy’s, they deserve their own moment. Made fresh in store every day, the line-up ranges from traditional tastes of Greek and caesar to the popular pesto pasta salad, which is topped with sliced chicken schnitzel. The broccoli salad will get your veggie count up with steamed broccoli, soy-sauteed green beans and shredded carrot, but you’d better get in early as they’ve been known to sell out.
