Nestled in the heart of Currumbin Waters, Home was imagined by three mates – Sam, Wade and Nic – with a view to create a community-centric space with really excellent food and coffee. As part of this neighbourhood approach, the crew has been hosting a monthly Saturday Smokeup, which sees the courtyard come to life of an evening. For the third iteration, Home has partnered with two undisputed industry titans – Costa Taco and Balter. Here’s everything we know so far …
If you’re a fan of Costa Taco’s famous saucy birria taco, go ahead and loosen your belt buckle in anticipation for the third Saturday Smokeup on Saturday February 22 at Home in Currumbin. From the outset, Sam, Wade and Nic always planned to partner with like-minded hospitality folks to bring interesting and fun events for the tight-knit Currumbin community. All massive fans of Costa Taco, it was an obvious choice for the first official collab.
For one day only, Costa Taco will be putting a smokey spin on their famous birria taco to bring a slightly new flavour to the classic. From the Home kitchen, you’ll be greeted with a smoke-roasted lamb pita smothered with red-pepper tahini, cucumber and dill yoghurt and topped with pomegranate and pine nuts, alongside a moreish meat-free option with shawarma-spiced cauliflower. “It will be a mash-up of different styles and flavours,” Sam says of the menu. “Nic’s background is in fine dining, so he’ll be bringing a touch of elegance.”
Accompanying the fare, Costa’s team will be shaking up their signature margs alongside Home’s bartenders, who will be serving two signature cocktails – the Gin Basil Smash and espresso martini. Balter will also be on board slinging cervezas.
The Home x Costa Taco event is walk-in only. Oh, and if you’ve got a penchant for punchy wines, Home is also celebrating National Drink Wine Day (it’s definitely a thing) with an intimate wine dinner featuring Grafted Wines. The ticketed event will celebrate fresh, local ingredients and Australian wines. Nab a ticket here.
