Lune Croissanterie is kicking off the year with a buttery bang, celebrating its fan-voted Hall of Fame pastries in an exclusive January-only line-up. From over 200 past creations, these six legends have risen to the top, earning their place in Lune history – and on your must-try list.
Whether you’re craving something sweet, savoury or nostalgic, Lune’s anticipated 2024 Hall of Fame line-up promises to delight. First up is the famed Birthday Cake, a twice-baked croissant inspired by pastry queen Christina Tosi’s iconic Milk Bar Birthday Cake, which is loaded with ‘birthday cake’ frangipane, vanilla crumb, vanilla buttercream and colourful sprinkles. The Choc Chip Cookie – a pain au chocolat-style take on milk and cookies – also makes a triumphant return this January after debuting back in 2019. It’s filled with a Marie-biscuit-infused frangipane, whipped dulce chocolate ganache and choc-chip cookie chunks.
For some zing, don’t miss the Yuzu Cheesecake – a flaky cruffin filled with yuzu curd and cheesecake, topped with a kiss of double cream and coconut streusel (to emulate a chewy biscuit base), before being rolled in a tangy yuzu sugar. Lune’s iconic Tiramisu earns a well-deserved place on the 2024 Hall of Fame list. The pudding-like creation is filled with coffee caramel and coffee-soaked savoiardi biscuits, brushed with more coffee caramel and finished with choc-dusted mascarpone cream. Banana lovers can enjoy the old favourite Banoffee Pie (well, danish) from Lune’s 2015 specials, which is lovingly filled with dulce de leche and topped with fresh banana slices and lashings of whipped cream.
The savoury Everything Croissant, which rounds out the stellar line-up, was the handiwork of the Lune Brisbane front-of-house team in 2022 – they saw a gap in the market and insisted that the brilliant Brisbane chefs fill it. The result? A twisted pastry shaped with a herb paste, filled with chive-spiked cream cheese and a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning. This was a savoury show-stopper when it was released back in 2022 – so don’t miss its curtain call.
The delicious six Hall of Fame pastries are available daily at Lune’s South Bank and Brisbane City locations until Friday January 31. Each pastry is also available to pre-order via the Lune website.
