Indian Room Milton
Over the weekend, a beloved Indian restaurant celebrated the official opening of its second venue. Indian Room, the popular family-owned restaurant cherished by West End locals, cut the ribbon on a new eatery on Railway Terrace in Milton on Saturday January 25, showing off a menu jam-packed with authentic Indian dishes and a vibrant 200-capacity space. Fans of Indian Room’s offering will be thrilled to know that the new location is dishing up the venue’s signature morsels, including its smoked butter chicken (and the moreish butter chicken momos), crispy kachori sliders, Amritsari fish and bhut jolokia curry (hailed as one of Brisbane’s spiciest), while the Milton location also boasts a greater range of vegan-friendly items. Indian Room Milton is also serving brunch, with inventive items like the Namaste Benny (poached eggs and mildly spiced chicken tikka on toasted sourdough), the Bunny Pao Chow (hollowed out white bread filled with butter chicken) and Indian-style jaffles available alongside filtered Indian coffee. Newmarket Hotel
After undergoing a significant refurbishment, the Newmarket Hotel has pulled back the curtain on its new look, giving locals a peek at a suite of brand-new and updated amenities. Promising visitors a whole new experience, the revitalisation has sought to blend the hotel’s rich history with new modern design elements. Those popping in for a pint or a parmie will notice that the Newy’s full-service restaurant, alfresco terrace and big-screen sports bar have been given a sprucing, with the dining destination now pairing its slick new aesthetic with a cracking menu loaded with local seafood, juicy steaks and generous share plates. The Newy is also celebrating the opening of its new cocktail bar, Mrs P’s, a new nook named after one of the venue’s previous publicans, that boasts cushy booths along floor-to-ceiling windows. The Newmarket Hotel team plans to unveil a schedule of community and entertainment events in the coming months, so be sure to keep an eye on the venue’s social media pages for more info.
