Think of it like a curated, self-guided roadtrip with some of the region’s finest local farmers, producers, winemakers, brewers and flavour-makers all simultaneously opening their gates for one delicious day of snacking, sampling and sipping. Sounds pretty great, right? And this year, there will be two delicious dates – Sunday March 30 for the autumn iteration, followed by Sunday July 20.
Picture this: larders overflowing with homemade jams, chutneys and relishes, mounds of freshly picked produce right from the paddock, farm-fresh honey, garlic and even olive oil. If this sounds like your ideal Sunday adventure, get along to the Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail. The signature event brings together the who’s who from around the region for one road-trip-worthy day. From alpaca cuddles to wine tastings at award-winning vineyards, there’s something for everyone.
The day is about more than just food, though there’s plenty of that. Take a leisurely farm walk to learn about how your food is made, taste the incredible rosella jams at Vanberry Jam Co and Cottage, or get up close with camels and alpacas – the Scenic Rim offers a unique mix of experiences that you won’t find anywhere else. Beer lovers, don’t miss out on the tasting at Boxer Brewing on Tamborine Mountain, a perfect spot to sip on locally brewed ales while soaking in the views.
