Break out the salt, limes and tequila – International Margarita Week is here, and it’s set to be a big one. Howard Smith Wharves is getting in on the action in a big way, hosting an 11-day celebration of the famous cocktail in partnership with iconic tequila brand Patrón. From Thursday February 20, guests can head to HSW for a range of margarita interpretations alongside Mexican-inspired food and entertainment.

How do you like your margarita? Stirred, shaken or frozen? Sweet, smoky, spicy or savoury? No matter your answer, you will find a marg to suit your taste at Howard Smith Wharves. From Thursday February 20 to Sunday March 2, the riverside precinct’s venues will be offering tequila lovers a broad range of signature interpretations to sip on, including frozen mango margaritas, tom yum margaritas and Chinese gooseberry margaritas.

Over two weekends (February 20–23, and February 27 to March 2), the Main Lawn will transform into the Patrón Garden. Here, guests will be able to enjoy the ultimate fiesta and flavour experience, with Stanley’s award-winning head chef Louis Tikaram helming a Margarita Week pop-up food stall. Expect a bespoke menu filled with dishes inspired by Mexican culture and food, and Louis’ own experiences living in Los Angeles for six years. The week will also include performances from a live Mariachi band, plus Latin and Cuban musicians, while piñatas and games will be available for the kids.

Not a margarita fan? No stress – you’re still welcome! The crew at Felons Brewing Co. has developed a Paloma Sour Ale – a cocktail-inspired sour that is infused with grapefruit zest, salt and tequila, creating a balance between spirit, beer and cocktail. Head to the Howard Smith Wharves website for more information on the waterfront hub’s Margarita Week action.
