One of Brisbane’s favourite after-dark events is poised to set the night alight once more, as James St Up Late (JSUL) tees up its 2025 return for Thursday March 27. This year is shaping up to be the biggest JSUL yet, with more than 90 venues and retailers opening late into the evening to offer discounts, collection previews, designer conversations and innovative activations. Keen to put your best foot forward and get amongst the Up Late action? Here are the details on this year’s program …
Do you love goodie bags? How about discounts, bespoke food and drink offers, or parties?
If you answered yes to any combination of the above, then mark Thursday March 27 on your calendar, because James St Up Late (JSUL) is back for its latest iteration and this year’s precinct-wide soiree is set to be an absolute doozy.
From 5:00 pm, the world-renowned retail and dining district will come alive, as more than 90 James St venues and retailers – from high-end fashion boutiques and design houses to top-notch restaurants and bars – will be trading well into the evening. Every participating retailer will be giving Up Late revellers the chance to capitalise on a host of exclusive discounts and competitions, as well as a bunch of creative activations, designer conversations and collection previews. Themed lighting installations will illuminate the strip, while live DJ sets will be broadcast all along James St, creating a buzzing atmosphere.
This year’s JSUL will see new and established retailers offering some incredible in-store discounts, with the likes of Zimmermann, bassike, Aje, ST. AGNI, Bec + Bridge, Mister Zimi and Assembly Label participating in the generosity. Meanwhile, P. Johnson will be giving away limited-edition P. Johnson caps with every purchase over $200 (while stocks last) and those making a purchase worth more than $700 at Natasha Schweitzer will score a complimentary Harper necklace.
The James St Party Bags are back for another year, with the first 1000 attendees to make a purchase at JSUL snagging some sensational swag from brands like Loco Love, Slip, Glossier (care of Mecca Cosmetica) and Fashion Journal. That’s not all! Shoppers will have a chance to win something special from a huge pool of prizes donated by James St businesses (valued at over $20,000) from the JSUL Vending Machine – think hotel stays, shopping and dining vouchers, artworks and experiences.
On the events front, the JSUL program also features a slew of pop-up activations. RATIONALE and Gelato Messina will be operating a custom ice-cream cart, Mud will be hosting a ‘Lucky Charms Competition’ with a $500 voucher up for grabs, attendees can try their luck at JULY’s ‘Crack the Code’ game and maybe walk away with a classic carry-on suitcase, and those who spend $100 at Lobby Bar in the week leading up to and including JSUL (March 20–27) will be given a mysterious room key. If that key unlocks a special door during JSUL, the lucky key holder wins a night’s stay at Australia’s best hotel.
James St’s numerous drinking and dining venues will be getting in on the JSUL action this year, with special menus and one-off dining packages available all along the strip. ESSA, The Nixon Room and ēmmē will give patrons the chance to have their bill covered if they roll a six, while Gerard’s is hosting a ticketed dinner and in-conversation event with bassike co-founder Mary Lou Ryan and Arielle Thomas, host of Process The Podcast. Finally, StrangeLove is assembling a crack crew of talented mixologists from LOS, Lobby Bar, Mosconi, Gemelli and Carmen Tequileria to put together an exclusive Up Late cocktail and mocktail trail.
The full JSUL program is now live and can be peeped at the James St Up Late website.
