There’s a bright new coffee slinger that is dispensing top-notch specialty brews in The Valley. Ann Street Coffee Project is giving locals and workers a much-need pep, pumping out cup after cup of killer caffeine from ONA Coffee. The joint will be giving away free coffee on Wednesday February 5 – here’s what we know …

When those working in 900 Ann Street returned to the office at the beginning of the year, many of them were surprised to see a brand-new coffee spot waiting for them in the lobby. Ann Street Coffee Project (ASCP) opened at the base of the building just before Christmas, giving tenants a much-needed boost to get them through the final weeks of 2024. With a new year now well underway, the ASCP crew is keen to help folks float through 2025 by slinging coffee that is out of this world.

Originally born as a pop-up coffee cart that operated at 80 Ann Street, ASCP’s permanent home is a blue-and-white-tiled kiosk nestled in the centre of 900 Ann Street’s entry foyer. Though a few banquette seats and tables can be found nearby, ASCP is equipped to primarily facilitate takeaway trade. While it might look like a simple set-up, the ASCP team has invested in a bunch of top-grade equipment to ensure the quality of product is the best as possible.

Anchoring the coffee bench is a San Remo Cafe Racer – a gleaming workhorse the team is using to pump out silky brews using beans from award-winning Canberra-based powerhouse ONA Coffee. Highly regarded both domestically and abroad, ONA is a notch above the pack when it comes to flavour and innovation, and ASCP has two blends on deck for its milk-based and black coffees. For your flat whites and cappuccinos, ASCP uses ONA’s Maple blend – a smooth mix of caramel, chocolate and nutty flavours. Black coffee drinkers are treated to Gateway, which boasts a funkier flavour profile with hints of mixed berries. The caffeine spot also slings rotating single-origin filter and cold-brew coffees, alongside hot chocolate, chai lattes and specialty teas. A clutch of pastries from Brasserie Bread is also available for those that are feeling a bit peckish.

To officially celebrate its opening, ASCP will be host a launch event on Wednesday February 5, giving away free coffee between 7:00 am to 12:00 pm. For more details, head to The Directory.
